Keynote speakers

Two keynote speeches will be delivered at the opening ceremony of the conference. Fengru Li (University of Montana) will speak about the sociolinguistic and etnological aspects of branding and brand names in China. The second keynote lecture will be delivered by Dr. Rik Riezebos, director of EURIB, who will speak about the theory and practice of brand name selection.

Fengru Li

Fengru Li started her career as a marketing and sales Account Executive in Beijing for China National Textiles Import & Export Corporation (CHINATEX). She continued her corporate career in developing Asian markets in Seattle, Washington U.S. After receiving her Ph.D in 1996 from the University of Washington in Seattle, she switched to pursue an academic career. She has taught at Nankai University in China, the University of Washington in Seattle, Hong Kong Baptist University and currently the University of Montana, U.S. Her research and publications focus on, in addition to cross-cultural negotiations, the cultural and sociolinguistic aspects of marketing communications in general and brand naming of her native country of China in particular.

Rik Riezebos

Rik Riezebos is the general director of EURIB/European Institute for Brand Management, an independent research institute for brand, reputation & design management. He wrote his PhD thesis at the Erasmus University Rotterdam and he has been teaching at the same university as associate professor. Between 2002 and 2006 he was holding the lectorate "Cross-media, Brand, Reputation & Design Management" of the Hogeschool Inholland. He is the author of the widely used textbook "Brand Management: A Theoretical & Practical Approach" (2003).
