Getting to Amsterdam

Train

The closest train station is Amsterdam Central Station (CS). For fares and schedules, see www.ns.nl (national) and www.nsinternational.nl (international).

Plane

Amsterdam’s main airport is Schiphol (AMS). Travel time between the airport and CS is 15-20 minutes; with trains departing every 5-10 minutes. A one-way ticket costs E4,30.

Other smaller airports that have reasonable connections to the city are:

  • Rotterdam (RTM)
    Take bus 33 to Rotterdam Centraal, then train to A’dam CS. Total travel time: 1h15m-2h, costs E20-25 one-way, depending on the connection.
  • Eindhoven (EIN)
    Take bus 400 or 401 to Eindhoven train station [20 mins], then train [1h15m]. Total travel time: 1h45m-2h, costs around 20 euros one-way.

Bus

The closest bus stop for regional buses is Amsterdam Central Station. International buses (e.g., FlixBus, Ouibus) typically stop at the Amsterdam Sloterdijk and/or Schiphol Airport Stations. You can take other forms of public transport from there to the city center.
