• Constructie van regionale identiteit in Limburg: een onderzoek naar taalcultuur (2011-....). Dit project onderzoekt a) de inzet van taal (dialect, regiolect, Nederlands, hybride vormen) en cultuur (ritueel, feesten) in de constructie van lokale identiteit(en) in Limburg, b) de contexten waarin lokale identiteit(en) worden beleefd en uitgedragen, en c) de betrokken actoren en hun publiek. Hierbij is het niet zozeer de vraag of er - zoals het begrip dialectrenaissance suggereert - sprake is van een opleving van dialectgebruik in kwantitatieve zin: het gaat om de betekenissen die aan taalgebruik worden toegekend. Een belangrijk theoretisch uitgangspunt is dat 'de plaats', 'de regio' of 'de streek' geen geografisch afgebakende gebieden zijn met vastomlijnde culturele, linguïstische en historische eigenschappen, maar tijdsgebonden dynamische producten van collectief handelen en sociale verbeelding. Het onderzoek zal daarom zowel gericht zijn op de discursieve aspecten van de uitdrukking en vormgeving van lokale identiteit(en) als op de praxis waarbinnen deze identiteit(en) (in de zin van performance) vorm krijgen en worden beleefd (vgl. Bell 1997; Bourdieu 1984, 1991; Eckert 2000; Eckert & McConnell-Ginet 1999; Lave & Wenger 1991; Meinhof & Galasinski 2005). Project in samenwerking met: UvA: dr. Vincent de Rooij, MU:Prof. dr.
